I'm looking out over Beaver Creek Mountain in Colorado . . . about three years ago, I lost all of my hair. The process of losing your hair as a young woman is quite devastating, and for me, the experience was just that! It's interesting two of my acquaintances at the time had lost their hair due to cancer, I had not, so I received no sympathy. One person told me, "you look like a boy" and another "it'll grow back." Well anyways, words are powerful they can stop a person in their tracks or launch them into outerspace. One gem I've learned is that most author's lend the emotions behind their own experiences to fuel the emotional engine that brings life to their characters' stories--even if the circumstances were very different the emotion may be same. As for my hair, my hair hair has grown back--that's hairy me in picture #1, but when I retire, I'm going to cut off all my hair again "on purpose"! It was so easy to manage. Hats off to all the girls with a short crop--no matter the reason. Cheers!
